Stretching: The Best Way to Relieve Pain

Stretching is a word that many of us hear and associate with physical fitness, and is a key part of staying fit. However, did you know that everyone should be stretching and it goes hand in hand with your Chiropractic care? You may think that you don’t have time to stretch, but stretching can be done at any point in the day. Whether it is at your desk, on your lunch break, or right before bed, and it will only take a few minutes out of your day. Why are we stressing the importance of stretching? It’s because stretching can help with problems that you are already working with your Chiropractor to fix, and help ease any pains you may be having. There are so many benefits of stretching, but we want to highlight a few for you, and show you some stretches to get you going!

HELPS KEEP THE SPINE ALIGNED

When stretching the muscles in your chest, shoulders, and lower back, this will help improve you posture, which will help keep the spine in alignment. When you neglect to stretch these muscles, they begin to retract and shorten, which leaves you with poor posture and a spine that is out of alignment.

RELIEVES LOWER BACK PAIN

This one seems like a no brainer for us! People can suffer from low back pain whether they are very active, or do not engage in any physical activity. Relaxing these muscles by stretching, you will see more fluidity in movements. Stretching your lower back can be a great pain reliever, and your Chiropractor can give you individualized stretches.

IMPROVES RANGE OF MOTION

Stretching more often will lead you to become more flexible, which will help prevent injury. Your muscles will be able to work as efficiently as they can due to regular stretching. While stretching make sure you do not overdo it by bouncing or hyper extending yourself because this can lead to injury.

STRETCHES

Try these stretches along with your chiropractic care to see the greatest results! Your back will thank you!
