Karen LeVan, LMT, CMLDT

Karen has a deep understanding of the importance of touch.  Before graduating from Cortiva Institute, she was a preschool teacher who used kind touch on each student.  For some of her students, it was the only kind touch they would receive.  Karen believes each person has his or her own reason for receiving a massage and makes every session client centered with a holistic, intuitive, and integrative approach to massage.  Fun facts about Karen:  she has deaf parents and is fluent in American Sign; she is a registered yoga teacher and certified children’s yoga teacher; and she enjoys knitting, jewelry design, and photography.

Alyssa Tracy, LMT

Alyssa Tracy, LMT

Having grown up in York, Alyssa moved to State College to attend Penn State where she completed her BA in American Studies in 2012.  Upon graduation, Alyssa returned to York where she currently resides.  In 2013, she decided there was something missing and that it was time for a change, so she enrolled in Baltimore School of Massage.  Alyssa graduated from massage school in 2014 and received her license shortly thereafter.  Ever since starting her massage career it has been her goal to help every patient she can through muscle work with a wide range of modalities and to provide them with the best care possible so that they can meet their personal health goals.

therapist_sue_web.jpg

Co-owner of A Therapeutic Effect, Sue grew up in Wasilla, Alaska living off the land and exploring gold mines, glaciers, and the raw majestic beauty of towering mountains, rivers, and wildlife.  Sue left Alaska to attend college in Texas and then moved to South Carolina where she met her husband and business partner.  The couple relocated to Asheville, North Carolina where Sue attended The Center for Massage and Natural Health. While surrounded by twenty-four private acres and the great Smokey Mountains, her passion for therapeutic bodywork was born.

By using therapeutic techniques, including Chinese cupping, Sue strives to help those living in chronic pain and discomfort.  She believes that by incorporating one's breath into the session and blending deep tissue with trigger point therapy, the massage changes from something done to you to something done with you.  By simply acknowledging the movements of breath and the innate ability for the body to heal itself, the body will respond best when you ask, through therapeutic touch, to release rather than telling it to. Breath is spirit.  The act of breathing is living.

Sue is a proud mother of five little girls, a wife, and a business owner who aims to create a wellness community within THIS community that she loves to serve.

Sue is no longer taking massage appointments as she is focused on the behind the scenes magic that keeps A Therapeutic Effect ticking.

Having a father with chronic back problems, Kate began informally practicing massage at age 8.  Kate knew this was her passion and immediately pursued her career in massage therapy after high school. She graduated from the York campus of the Baltimore School of Massage.  As a Licensed Massage Therapist, Kate joined the A Therapeutic Effect team in July 2007.  She enjoys her position at the wellness center focusing on clients with needs ranging from general relaxation to more specific work such as chronic pain and injuries.
